Push back of babies by Greek authorities sparks controversy
Push back of babies and children by Greek authorities has sparked heated argument on Twitter.
While some frowned at the development, some others applauded it saying it has saved their lives.
The debate followed a post by Aegean Boat Report. “Look at this picture closely, please take your time, study every individual, especially the small children. This could be your child, your nephew, your friends child or the kids down the hall,”the report partly said.
Showing empathy for the children, a responder who goes by the name Hedeon Ceg, said: “No parents who do not lose hope would expose their children to such a great risk. It is shameful for humanity that neither the country they fled nor the country they sought refuge in can find a place to keep these little children alive.
“My best wishes are for these little hearts to beat happily for many years to come.
“These people faced pushback. They will continue until they succeed, perhaps even with casualties. And this photograph will be the only remaining evidence of their existence in this world, especially for some of the children.”
Approving the push back, a twitter user who goes by the name Roxyramna said: “Who put them in the boat? Those are the ones who want to harm those children or even put them in the situation where they could be harmed…”
Supporting Roxyramna, another troll, Mateusz C, said: “Coast guard is doing their job – to secure the border.
“If this people may be let into European union , they shall go to the border crossing point . If they cannot they are criminals and shall response for the crime – even if the price to pay is life.”
