Amy Pope delighted by meetings with  Zimbabwe, Bahamas, Kenya, Egypt officials

Newly elected Director General of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Amy Pope has expressed delight over her meetings with Zimbabwe, Bahamas, Kenya and Egypt top officials.

The meetings were held on separate days. 

Below are Amy Pope’s remarks after each of the meetings. 

Meeting with Zimbabwe official 

Productive meeting today with Zimbabwe’s Minister of Labor H.E. Paul Mavima. He is a key partner in improving migration governance in #Zimbabwe  & ensuring we continue to provide opportunities for migrant and host communities throughout the country. 🇿🇼

Meeting with Bahamas official 

Grateful for the opportunity to meet with #Bahamas Min. Keith Bell once more to discuss proactive avenues to provide critical humanitarian support for vulnerable communities in the Caribbean impacted by climate change.

Meeting with Kenya official

Always glad to meet with Amb. Cleopa Mailu of #Kenya! We discussed Kenya’s leadership in developing effective solutions to address #ClimateMobility & help vulnerable communities who will continue to be impacted by the climate crisis across eastern Africa. @KenyaMissionUNG 🇰🇪

Meeting with Egypt official

It was a pleasure to meet with Minister of Labor Hassan Shehata of #Egypt to discuss Egypt’s support for those fleeing violence in Sudan & building the resilience of communities throughout the African continent in the face of climate change. 🇪🇬
