Over 150 unaccompanied children missing, 5570 others still accommodated in asylum hotels
More than 150 unaccompanied children kept in asylum hotel are missing, Every Child Protected Against Trafficking, ECPATUK a non-governmental and not for profit organization that campaigns against child trafficking and transnational child exploitation has said.
5,570 children according to ECPATUK are still accommodated in hotels so far.
The organisation said: “We have launched a legal challenge to uphold the rights of children to care & protection under the Children Act 1989
“This unlawful practice must end.
Follows Family Court ruling on @article_39 action that:
▶️unaccompanied children have the same rights under the Children Act 1989 as others
▶️Home Office housing children in hotels does not diminish duties of local authorities.
Far from acting to stop this practice, @GOVUK seeks powers to continue in the #IllegalMigrationBill in conflict with the Children Act 1989 duties of local authorities
“Today the @HumanRightsCtte says the Bill breaches legal obligations.
“As a small charity concerned with the rights of some of the most vulnerable children subject to the very worst crimes, we have been left with no choice. Children have been harmed, children are missing, and children have been exploited.”
