Amy Pope promises inclusive leadership for 100 million displaced people
Newly elected Director General of the International Organization for Migration, the United Nations Migration Agency, Ms Amy Pope says she’s committed to being an inclusive leader for all 100 million displaced people worldwide.
Amy Pope who disclosed this in a tweet via her verified handle @AmyEPope,
“As the first woman elected to lead @UNmigration, I am committed to being an inclusive leader for all 100 million displaced people worldwide. Our solutions will be more innovative & effective when everyone has a seat at the table.,” she said.
Elated by her election, she said in another tweet: “I am proud to be the first woman elected to lead @UNmigration. Throughout IOM, there are so many incredible female leaders I am honored to partner with in the work to deliver on the promise of migration. Here are a few reasons why we need more women in global leadership roles @UNmigration can make a difference in the lives of women worldwide by using its data to anticipate the specific impact of climate shocks & conflict on women.
“We can also make IOM staff more representative by prioritizing gender & diversity considerations in hiring decisions. When women are in power, we bring others with us, including the voices often left out of the conversation. We need women in top leadership positions to ensure the next generation of safe, orderly and humane migration, and I am thrilled to be among them.”
