38 people die in 2 shipwrecks  

A total of 38 people have reportedly died in two separate shipwrecks.

 The two incidents  occurred with a space of two days and claimed 19 lives each.

One of the incidents occurred in Sfax, Tunisia while the second occurred in the Central Med.

The Sfax incident involved 56  people forced back to Tunisia  .

Nineteen bodies were recovered with  16 surviving Alarm Phone said. The whereabouts of  others, numbering over 20 are still unknown,.

Providing information on events leading to the incident, Alarm Phone said: “We have been informed by relatives that 56 people who left #Sfax in #Tunisia this morning are at severe risk at sea because of bad weather. We urge authorities to search for the boat and rescue them to a safe place!

“We received information that the group has been taken back to #Tunisia. While we are relieved they survived the storm, we fear they are facing further #violence and #deportation.’’

Sunsequetly, Alarm Phone said “We received the information that of the approx 60 people, who were returned to #Tunisia, only 16 people survived and 19 dead bodies were retrieved. Where are the other people? End this continuous murder at sea!”

Despite numerous calls to the Tunisian authorities “we still don’t know what happened to the missing. Solidarity to the loved ones of the dead & the missing. This tragedy was by no means inevitable but the result of the in/actions of the Tunisian coastgards & its European allies.” Alarm Phone said.

The second incident which occurred on Wednesday April 1, 2026 in the Central Med claimed 19 lives.

Alarm Phone disclosed this in a post on its verified X handle.

The post reads: “Shipwreck in the Central Med. On 1 April at 11:50h, Alarm Phone alerted authorities to a boat with 75 people. When rescue arrived, 8 people had already died, 11 others died before reaching land. Some survivors are in critical condition. Another crime by the EU border regime!”

Earlier on, Alarm Phone had posted about a boat missing in the central Med.

“We are searching for a boat with 43 people on board, who departed from #Zuwarah in #Libya on 23 March. The Italian authorities say that they have no records of this boat. With a complete lack of info, we fear yet
