Sex trafficking survivor recounts sad experience

A Nigerian survivor of human trafficking,  Izzy Ogbeide, has narrated sordid tales of how their traffickers forced them to sleep with numerous men while on their menstrual cycle.

She narrated this in viral videos seen by voiceforafricanmigrants.org.

She said: “When we are having our menstruation, we still sleep with men.  There is nothing like I am on my period. No! You must go to work.  When going to work while on your period, you will use cotton wool to block the blood and sleep with men like that.  Sometimes, you sleep with 20 to 30 men a day. It could be more or less.”

“You have to block your period with cotton wool in order to sleep with men after which you give the money to the people who trafficked you.

“Men’s manhood will push the cotton wool used to block menstrual flow down under your throat.

“When you want to remove it, you will have to drag and drag until you finally get it out. By then, your whole hand would have been filled with blood.

“We always go about with water and soap to wash off the blood.  After removing it, you will fix another one.

“This is what girls in Europe go through.  If 10 African women travel to Italy, eight of that number are there for prostitution.”

Izzy noted that the traffickers are concerned solely about their monetary gains and not moved by whatever crisis the girls are going through.

As a young girl, she said, “you know that the cramp that we feel is equivalent to heart attack. When I was in Nigeria, I used to have severe cramps. If it happens to a baby, she could die. You would not be able to walk. 

“It will appear as if from your waist down is not functional again.  My mum would always allow me to go and sleep anytime I felt that cramp.  When I got to Italy,  who are you to complain about cramps to your madam?”

Surprisingly, Izzy said it is the madam’s husband that drives them to the prostitution area.  “He was the driver and we were paying him 20 euros every day.”

At the close of work each day, Izzy said,  “we would give the money to his wife and he would charge us for the transportation. You will be in severe pain and still go and sleep with multiple men. You don’t have a choice. 

“They will put someone there to monitor you and make sure the money is coming back to them. In my case, I had the madam’s sister prostituting in the same place with me.”
