56 migrants dead, missing, 781 intercepted, returned to Libya in 38 days

Fifty six migrants have died or missing  in the Central Mediterranean route between January 1 and February 7, 2026.  

Seven hundred and eighty one migrants were intercepted and returned to Libya within the period under review.

 Men had the highest number of migrants returned to Libya. They totalled 666, followed by women with and children 29.

The infographics said that the numbers of deaths and missing migrants along the Central Mediterranean apply to Libya and countries of departures in the Mediterranean area
