Refugees in Libya has  condemned happenings in Southern Libya, describing  it as a  continuation of crimes against humanity.

In a post on its verified X handle, the group said: “What we are witnessing these last days in Southern Libya is a continuation of crimes against humanity.Following an alleged assault on a Libyan truck driver by a group of Chadian individuals, forces affiliated with Libya’s military institution, under the command of General Saddam Haftar, carried out violent attacks against African migrants.

“Men and women who had nothing to do with the incident were beaten, humiliated, detained, and collectively punished in the name of what is being called the “dignity of Libyans. We condemn this logic to be nothing but dangerous and criminal.

“They have always found excuses to implement Europe’s violent border externalisation policies.”

In another post, Refugees In Libya drew attention to “a circulating video showing a Libyan man being beaten in Chad after being caught undocumented has sparked outrage inside Libya and triggered calls for retaliation against Chadians.”

Refugees In Libya said while it does not support violence of any kind—especially against people who are undocumented—this reaction exposes a deep contradiction. “The same society now expressing outrage has, for years, normalised and justified extreme violence against migrants and refugees on Libyan soil.”

If this single act is rightly condemned, the group expressed optimism that the “systematic torture, enslavement, rape, and killing of people on the move in Libya must also be recognised for what it is: completely unacceptable and indefensible.”
