It all started when the man left Kenya for Qatar in 2018, carrying with him the same hopes many migrant workers do: the promise of a stable job and a chance to uplift his family.

Night Kenyan man’s life changed

For two years, he worked diligently at Baladiya, the municipality yard where vehicles involved in accidents are kept.

In an emotional post on Facebook, he recounted how his night shifts were routine, shared with two close friends who had travelled with him.

One evening, he was scheduled to rest and did not report to work, unaware that his life was about to change in a way he could never have imagined in a single night.

His two colleagues went ahead for the shift, but during those hours, they made a decision that would alter the course of Millan’s life.

Arrested by Qatar police

Without his knowledge, they allegedly sold four cars to a group of buyers. By morning, they had fled Qatar, taken the money, and returned to Kenya.

Waking up to what he thought was an ordinary day, instead found himself surrounded by officers from Qatar’s Criminal Investigation Department.

They accused him of selling the cars. Despite his attempts to explain that he had not been at work that night, he was informed that his name appeared on the shift roster.

With his colleagues missing, he was the only one left to answer. What followed was a year and a half of imprisonment for a crime he insists he did not commit.

“It was painful, and I suffered,” he recalls, “but I held on to my faith. Only God knew the truth.”

Moved to UK after leaving Qatar prison

During this period, he learned that one of the colleagues who had fled later died in Kenya, a tragedy linked to the overwhelming stress of the situation.

Though the circumstances around the case were heavy, the man says he never allowed bitterness to take root. With time, his situation shifted. After serving his sentence, doors he never expected began to open.

He was eventually able to leave Qatar and start afresh in the United Kingdom, a transition he describes as nothing short of divine intervention.

“God lifted me from that darkness and brought me to the UK,” he says. “He has continued to bless me, guide me, and keep me safe.”

Today, he is rebuilding his life with a sense of gratitude and renewed purpose. He shared his story not for sympathy, but as a reminder that even in the face of injustice, hope can still rise.

“My story is simple,” he reflects. “Even when people plan evil against you, God can turn it into blessings. I thank God for where I am today.”
