Refugees In Libya president laments arrest of 21 parents, kids in Tunis
David Yambio, the president and co- founder of Refugees In Libya has condemned the arrest of 21 parents and their kids in Tunis.
His words: “I tried to go offline for a few days during our Borderless Africa conference. The moment I opened my work lines, this is the video I received with the attached message. The pain, rage, and frustration I feel are indescribable:
“These are the parents and kids who were arrested in Tunis, La Kram, and taken to an unknown deportation center. They have been there for over 4 days. They are 21 parents with their children. Today the police informed them that they will take them all to the desert because they refuse to give information to be deported.”
He averred that the desert dump is not a lie. “We have lost thousands of African youth since at least 2023 after being dumped in the desert by the Tunisian authorities. These are crimes against humanity committed against African youth on African soil, fueled by Europe’s violent border externalisation and the enormous resources that sustain it.
“It is unfortunate that the faces of these children are visible in this miserable situation, but there is no other way. Make noise. Let us show the Tunisian authorities that this is unacceptable, and that these people must be released immediately and given accommodation, medical care, and psychological support.”
