2025 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence : IOM aims to raise awareness about obstacles survivors face, promote survivor-centered support
As the world gears up to mark 2025 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence the International Organisation for Migration says it aims to raise awareness about obstacles survivors face, promote survivor-centered support.
The organization disclosed this in a post on its website.
It said: “Every year, between 25 November and 10 December, the world marks the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence (GBV). This year’s focus is on advocating for collective action to dismantle the structural, cultural, and institutional barriers that perpetuate violence and exclusion.
“Under the theme “Break Barriers, Build Safe Spaces,” the campaign emphasizes that safety is a fundamental right and not a privilege. It urges individuals, communities, and institutions to transform spaces that instill fear, silence, and discrimination into environments where women and girls can live with dignity, safety, and freedom from harm.
“IOM aims to raise awareness about the obstacles survivors face, promote survivor-centered support, and demonstrate its ongoing commitment to ending gender-based violence. The campaign highlights that the safety of women and girls cannot be compromised, calls for reliable funding to keep protection services running, and reminds us that every emergency response is a chance to prevent violence before it happens.”
