DCIM repatriates 165 immigrants comprising Eritreans, Ethiopians, Guineans, Nigerians, Sudanese, Yemenis
The Department for Combating Illegal Migration (DCIM) Libya, has repatriated 165 immigrants comprising Eritreans, Ethiopians, Guineans, Nigerians, Sudanese, and Yemenis.
This was according to information shared by Migrant Rescue Watch.
The post reads: “DCIM repatriated/transferred from Tobruk Immigration Detention Center in 3 separate ops a total of 165 #migrants. All #migrants of Egyptian nationality were repatriated via Emsaed land border crossing.
“All others were transferred to Qanfoudah Immigration Detention Center in Benghazi for completion of legal procedures and repatriation. Nationalities: Eritrea, Ethiopia, Guinea, Nigeria, Sudan and Yemen.”
Migrant Rescue Watch also noted that the DCIM continued to conduct mobile security checks in Ajdabiya aimed at controlling illegal immigration. “During recent patrols a number of undocumented #migrants of different nationalities were apprehended and transferred to DCIM Branch HQ for legal action.”
In a related development, the DCIM Investigation and Arrest Dept. conducted raid on human smugglers’ “safe house” in Shabna area (Benghazi) and apprehended 19 #migrants of Bangladeshi and Pakistani nationalities awaiting transport for boat crossing.
“During op a Bangladeshi national responsible for coordination and transportation of #migrants was also apprehended. All remain in custody pending investigation into the human smuggling network and involved entities.”
