The post reads: “SOS! 42 lives at risk in the central Med! The people say their boat is taking on water. They see a merchant vessel nearby – we believe it is the IVAR BEAUTY. They also observed a plane at 14:50h. They are calm but unsure if rescue is coming. Authorities are alerted – rescue now!
“After being abandoned by the merchant vessel IVAR BEAUTY, the people in distress were intercepted by the so-called Libyan Coast Guard. This is completely unacceptable. In Libya, they will be exposed to violence and exploitation.”
Alarm Phone in a related post said: “Boat missing in the central Med! We were alerted by a relative of people on board that a boat left Benghazi in #Libya on 13 October, trying to reach Italy. They are missing since. We have alerted authorities, asking them to search for them. Don’t let them drown!”
