Libya evicts over 400 Sudanese families in Sabha
No fewer than 400 Sudanese families have been reportedly thrown into the street by the Libyan authorities.
The eviction was announced by Refugees In Libya on its X page.
The post reads: “A video documents how hundreds of displaced Sudanese families and other workers were expelled in the city of Sabha, their makeshift homes were demolished, and their tents burned. The footage also captures expressions of scorn and mockery, especially when one of them says, “We are Muslims.”
Refugees In Libya said what was carried out by the Presidency of the Department for Combating Illegal Immigration (DCIM), the committee responsible for regulating the South, the Minister of Interior affiliated with the (Eastern) government, and also its Foreign Minister “who praised these actions — is shameful and contradicts all human values.”
The organisation expressed concerns that the fate of more than 400 Sudanese families is now at risk after they were evicted onto the streets with no alternative shelter and no protection. “Organization cannot come through such chaos and total lack of responsibility, especially towards women and children.”
