Black Africans face tough times in Tunisia, Algeria
This is not the best of time for black Africans in Tunisia and Algeria.
In the last 48 hours, black Africans in the two North African countries have been reportedly subjected to all manners of terror.
Refugees In Libya reported that hundreds of black migrants living in the olive groves of Jebeniana have been attacked this afternoon (November 26). Tear-gassed, beaten and robbed of their belongings: shelter, food, materials, clothes and a loss of hope.
Many have been wounded and will not be admitted to hospitals because they are black + migrant
Jebiniana is a town and commune in the Sfax Governorate, Tunisia.
Also known as Djebeliana, this town is 35km north of Sfax on the Mediterranean coastal plain near El Amra.
In a related development, Refugees In Libya said : “We received an alarming footages from Southern Algeria in the City of Tamanrasset where for three days in low black migrants have been hunted down, beaten, tortured and thrown into the desert. It is unclear if it a nationwide campaign fueled by Arab Anti-black racism or EU-funded violence as usual. We are closely monitoring the situation.”
Reacting to Refugees In Libya’s message, a netizen, Nabil Ferdaoussi said “What’s happening in Southern Algeria is unchecked massacre.”
Asking rhetorically on its X handle, Refugees In Libya wondered why does the Border Guard Agency

at the Al-Assa border section conceal the numbers and nationalities of migrants detained by them, and “where are they transferred after their detention? Especially since the Immigration Agency confirms that it does not receive them and that there is no coordination between them regarding the detainees.
“How can the families of the disappeared be reassured about their loved ones, and how can they communicate with the Border Guard Agency? To eliminate suspicions of trafficking or exploitation, they must disclose and clarify the situation.”
