Five people have reportedly drowned as a group of 19 migrants  crashed against rocks while landing on the Greek Island of Farmakonisi.

Alarmphone, an organization that provides independent support for people crossing the Mediterranean Sea to the EU disclosed this on its social media handle.

The post reads: “Urgent distress on #Farmakonisi, several people are reported missing. A group of 19 people crashed against rocks while landing on the greek island of #Farmakonisi. They report that 5 people drowned in the water & are missing.

“The other people split into different groups. One group has several children & a baby among them. They report that the baby is unconcious & ask for urgent medical help. We are in contact with relatives of them who fear that the remaining people will be pushed back to #Turkey!”

Alarmphone said “@HCoastGuard is informed and according to media reports a search and rescue mission is currently ongoing. The group needs urgent help and #noPushback!”
