Europe’s continued policy of sealing off borders makes movement across the Mediterranean dangerous, Seebrüecke International said.

Seebrüecke International disclosed this while announcing that the crew of the SEA-EYE 5 rescued 65 people at night on their first mission. “The wooden boat’s engine had failed and the people in distress were not wearing life jackets.

“Fleeing across the Mediterranean remains dangerous due to the lack of safe passage and Europe’s continued policy of sealing off borders. We are therefore very happy about the expansion of the civilian fleet and wish the SEA-EYE 5 favourable winds!”
