Forty four people who escaped from Libya are distressed in Central Mediterranean.

Alarm Phone disclosed this while calling for assistance for the people.

Alarm Phone in a Save Our Soul message titled ’44 people in distress in the central Mediterranean, said:

“We have alerted authorities to this group that escaped #Libya 4 days ago. A merchant vessel is nearby and they have informed us that RCC MALTA told them ‘we have it under control’. We fear that a #pushback is in the making!

“These 2 merchant vessels are in the vicinity of the distressed. They could be requested to intervene & at least shelter the 44 people in need. Why this delay in rescue? Available assets must be directed by RCC #MALTA to the distressed, to rescue them to a place of safety!”

After many hours in which contact couldn’t be established, Alarm Phone said “we were able to speak with the group in distress again 3 hours ago. They are still at sea, moving slowly, totally exhausted, without food and water. #Malta is still refusing any help.

Rescue is needed!”
