No rescue carried out as whereabouts of 150 distressed people still unknown
Alarm Phone says it’s yet to establish contact with 150distressed people for the past two days.
Alarmphone had few days ago announced that the 150 people were in distress on their way to the CanaryIslands.
“We lost contact to the people on a boat, which left #Senegal on 21/10. Weather and sea conditios are worsening. Authorities are informed. We ask @Salvamentogob so rescue now!”
After the initial announcement, AlarmPhone subsequently said that the 150 people were still at sea.
“We could reach them. Their engines are broken, weather and sea conditions worsening. Authorities were alerted to their exact location. People have been at sea for 5 days now. @MRCCRabat @Salvamentogob: Rescue now!”
After that moment, AlarmPhone once again, we lost contact with the 150 people.
“The conditions they faced all night are horrific. According to MRCC Rabat, no rescue operation is ongoing. The authorities must do their job and rescue the boat now!
“According to #MRCCRabat, 4 MerVs were to accompany the #pirogue to the closest coast. Now, 3 are moving south after circling for some time. It is unclear to us what is happening; authorities do not provide answers. We urge authorities to act fast and bring the people to safety!

Over the past 2 days, AlarmPhone said”we have not been able to establish contact with the 150 people. We fear that no rescue has been carried out & are worried about their fate! The boat was certainly in #Spanish SAR and we still urge the authorities to locate their position and #AssistThemNow!”
