CID, Police thwart boat crossing, human smuggling attempts
The CID in Ras al-Tin area thwarted an attempted boat crossing and apprehended 72 #migrants of Egyptian, Pakistani, Sudanese and Yemeni nationalities, information shared by Migrant Rescue Watch said.
Following humanitarian assistance at Umm Al Razm Security Directorate, Migrant Rescue Watch said all the people have been transferred to DCIM Al-Tamimi Bureau.
In a related development, Migrant Rescue Watch said “Patrols of Khawlan Police Dept. thwarted an attempted human smuggling following a road chase and seized a vehicle with 8 undocumented #migrants of Egyptian and Yemeni nationalities. The driver managed to flee the scene. All transferred to CID HQ in Al-Qayqab.”
It also added that the “General Dept. of Desert Patrols carried out in Emsaed area 2 separate raids on human smugglers’ ‘safe houses’ and apprehended more than 30 undocumented #migrants of Egyptian nationality.
“According to #migrant testimonies they were detained by smugglers without food or drink for more than three days. All transferred to police custody in Emsaed for completion of legal procedures and repatriation.”
