The Government will remove ‘inadmissibility’ conditions, Women for Refugee Women, an organization that supports women seeking safety in the UK to rebuild their lives in their own terms has said.

This, it said means that people who have been kept in limbo for months and years on end, including those who were cruelly threatened with removal to Rwanda, will have their claims processed.

“This is great news,” the organization said with excitement.

Continuing, it said “Yani, one of the women we were supporting in detention, spoke to the BBC about the impact the Rwanda plan has had on her.

“I felt very depressed… I’d rather die than go to Rwanda.”

We are extremely pleased that she will now have her claim processed.

“This is a welcome move from the Labour Government and will make a huge difference to thousands of people in need of safety.Everyone who is seeking safety in the UK should have their claims heard here and should receive a timely decision.”

However, it urged the government to act with caution.

“Plans to automatically reject individuals from so-called ‘safe’ countries could subject people to further harm and abuse, or even death.

“People’s asylum claims should be considered on an individual basis.

“We are grateful that the government are moving away from the hostile and cruel plans it inherited from the Conservatives.”

However, Women for Refugee Women said “it is important to remember the harm already caused by the Rwanda plan. This hostility and cruelty is the legacy of the Conservative Govt.

“We hope all those who have cruelly been kept in limbo for months and years on end, like Yani, will now:

✅Have their claims processed quickly and fairly;
✅Be supported to heal and to rebuild their lives in the UK.”
