Thirty out of 86 people who left Senegal reported dead
Thirty out of 86 people who left Senegal in a boat have been reported dead.
AlarmPhone who broke the news early this day, June 16, 2024, also shared information about 47 distressed people who left Sfax, Tunisia six days ago.
It said: “We are sad to learn that a boat which left #Senegal around June 5 was found by the Royal Moroccan Navy off the coast of #Dakhla yesterday with 86 people on board.
“It is thought that 30 people have lost their lives at sea.
Our thoughts are with the survivors and the families of the victims.”
Not deterred by the challenges it encounters doing its work, Alarm Phone said: “We continue to demand #FreedomofMovement so that these unbearable deaths at the borders of the European Union stop.”
On the 47 distressed people, Alarm Phone said: “We were alerted by a relative of someone on board 3 days ago. The 47 people left from #Sfax #Tunisia already 6 days ago! The Tunisian coastguard claims to have searched without success and now stopped the search. We urge them to not let 47 people drown!”
