Seebrüecke International has vowed to continue protesting against EU policies, especially those curtailing refugees’ rights

The organization in a series of tweet on EU elections said: “Today is the European elections – and we are staying loud! For a Europe in which no one has to live in camps, for a consistent ban on deportations and safe passage now!

“We will continue to take to the streets and protest against right-wing parties, their racism and nationalism.

“We will continue to protest against EU policies that further curtail the rights of refugees, e.g. with the tightening of the CEAS.

“With the CEAS tightening, the right to asylum was practically abolished and at the same time racism was institutionalised more strongly.”

In concrete terms, Seebrüecke International said “this means possible internment camps at European (external) borders for all those seeking protection, regardless of age and gender. The individual examination of the reason for fleeing will be abolished. Deportation to non-safe third countries is made possible.

“As a result of this approach, even more people will become victims of “legal” pushbacks and will have to take ever more dangerous flight routes – because people will continue to flee.”

Seebrüecke International went on to regret that EU (external) borders are increasingly becoming lawless areas.

“The protection of people on the move cannot be guaranteed there.

“As Seebrücke, we will not accept that Europe and Germany continue to jeopardise human lives. We will remain loud! We must and will continue to take to the streets.

“We will continue to fight loudly against sealing off borders and in favour of an asylum and migration policy based on solidarity. Stay loud for freedom of movement and a humane asylum and migration policy and join the movement. Consistent deportation ban & safe passage now!”
