Border security: IOM Ghana hands over renovated border posts, others to immigration authorities

As part of its efforts at enhancing security at the border, IOM Ghana has handed over a renovated border posts among other things to the country’s immigration authorities.

IOM Ghana disclosed this in a tweet.

It said: “In a significant step towards enhancing border security in Ghana, last week in Namoo, Mognori & Pulmakom, Upper East Region, IOM Ghana has handed over renovated border posts & Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH) Facilities to the @Gha_Immigration with funding from @StateINL.

“The new facilities, equipped with Migration Information & Data Analysis System (MIDAS), solar panels, motorcycles & border patrol equipment, will empower officers to effectively safeguard Ghana’s northern borders, maintain national security, & improve migration management.”

The organisation also shared information about its efforts in promoting climate change.

“IOM Ghana & @AccraMetropolis (AMA) are joining forces on #ClimateAction.
Ahead of World Environment Day, IOM & AMA are hosting a training on the nexus of migration, environment and #climatechange (MECC), for the city’s Steering Committee members, funded by the @IOMDevFund.

“The 2-day workshop brings together stakeholders from the @AccraMetropolis, @MinterGh, Environmental Protection Agency, CSOs, academia & @c40cities to share knowledge with the aim of better contributing to policy interventions to reduce vulnerabilities of climate change in cities.”
