For the past one week, there have been ongoing around Hanover Airport following threat to deport Ezidi people to Iraq.

Seebrüecke International disclosed this in a post on its X handle.

The post reads: “Since last Sunday, 26 May 2024, there has been a protest camp and daily rallies in front of the Langenhagen deportation prison at Hanover Airport. They are demonstrating against the ongoing threat of deportations of Ezidis to Iraq.

“In 2014, thousands of Ezidi people were killed or abducted in Iraq and tens of thousands were displaced. This has now even been recognised as genocide in Germany. The situation in Iraq remains dangerous for returning refugees.

“Especially for Ezidi people, a return to Iraq is unreasonable! We show solidarity with the protest. There needs to be a stop to the deportation of Ezidis and an end to deportations to Iraq in general. Stop deportations!”
