Anti-black African racism is reportedly taking the turn for the worse in Tunisia under President Kaïs Saïed.

Sea Watch International an NGO that saves lives on the sea made the allegation as it decried inhuman treatment being meted to Sub Saharan Africans in Tunisia.

According to Sea Watch International “Under Tunisian President Kaïs Saïed, anti-Black racism in Tunisia is escalating. People from sub-Saharan countries in particular are subjected to repression and violence.

“Reports show the brutality of a state whose border violence is supported by Europe.”

On the night of April, 5th, Sea Watch International said “the Tunisian National Guard capsized a boat of 42 people. 16 people drown.

“At the same time, the interceptions at land increase. The police stormed camps and arrested people. On command of Saïed, people are currently being deported to the desert at the Tunisian-Libyan border.”

The international NGO said the distasteful development “is the EU’s and Saïed’s public political agenda: Black people get systematically oppressed & deprived of their rights. Supporters from civil society also get repressed.”

Undaunted by the ugly development, Sea Watch International demanded that “EU’s border externalization strategy must end & #safepassage for all people on the move must be enabled!”
