Amy Pope ends Ukraine visit,seeks more support
International Organization for Migration, IOM, Chief Amy Pope, has called for continued support for Ukraine as she ends her visit to the war torn country.
“As I end my visit to Ukraine, I am moved by the strength of Ukrainians,”she said.
“Our work with partners will be crucial in rebuilding Ukraine and helping those most in need,”she added, as she reassured the people that “We stand with the people of Ukraine.”
Prior to this time, Amy Pope had described the ravaging effects of the war on Bucha District.
She said: “I have seen firsthand the devastating effects of the war in Bucha district, but I have also witnessed the resilience of the community.
“Today, 90% of the community has returned, and businesses are opening.
“It is critical that we continue to support the people of Ukraine.”
The IOM Chief had on arrival met with Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Tweeting after the meeting, she said: “Honored to meet with H.E. @ZelenskyyUa to reiterate @unmigration’s commitment to addressing the humanitarian needs of the Ukrainian people and to supporting their long-term recovery efforts.
“IOM stands with the people of Ukraine and those affected by the war.”
