A total of 901 people were expelled from Tunisia to Niger in the month of March, AlarmePhone Sahara has said.

Though it said the figure significantly dropped compared to what obtained in the first two months of the year, AlarmePhone Sahara regretted that regime of expulsions from Algeria continues and demanded an end to it.

AlarmePhone Sahara said this in a post titled ‘Expulsions from Algeria to Niger in March 2024’.

It said: “To our knowledge, the number of people expelled from #Algeria to #Niger last month (March) was significantly lower than in the first two months of the year. So far, 901 people have arrived in official and unofficial expulsion convoys at Asssamaka or Point Zéro, 15km from Assamaka.”

On 04/03/2024, AlarmePhone Sahara said an official and unofficial convoy arrived in Niger from Algeria. A total of 292 people were involved: 242 were Niger nationals in the official convoy.

“The unofficial convoy included 50 nationals of the following countries:
Benin: 1
Burkina Faso:1
Cameroon: 1
RCI: 5
Gambia: 2
G/Conakry: 21
Mali: 10
Nigeria: 7
Senegal: 2

“On 09/03/24, 97 Nigeriens arrived in a so-called official convoy in the Niger border town of Assamaka. ”

Two days later, on 11/03/24, to be specific, AlarmePhone Sahara added that an official and unofficial expulsion convoy crossed the Algerian-Nigerian border.
The official convoy expelled 350 Nigeriens.

“The unofficial convoy that arrived at Point Zéro included 162 migrants of all nationalities. As has already become routine, they had to walk 15 km through the desert and heat to the nearest town, Assamaka.

“Although the number of people expelled has fallen sharply this month, the regime of expulsions from Algeria continues.
It must stop!
Stop all deportations – from Algeria and everywhere!”
