As the world celebrates International Women’s Day today, March 8, 2024, LouiseMichel, an organization that aims to combine sea rescue with the principles of feminism, anti-racism and anti-fascism, has advocated  for gender  equality.

No country in the world has achieved gender equality, it said adding: “Let’s change that! Show solidarity. Fight!”

This year’s celebration is themed: Investing in women: Accelerate progress’.

Sharing its thought on this year’s celebration, Louise Michel said: “Every day is a feminist fighting day. Together we fight against sexism and discrimination. We stand up for freedom and equality.

Over 1.2 billion women live in places where there is only limited access to safe abortion. “There are still forced marriages of underage girls. There are still countries where girls are not allowed to go to school and women’s rights are extremely restricted.

The very fact that the word femicide needs to exist is more than worrying. It is not only women who are affected by unjust, patriarchal structures. Queer people also suffer discrimination on a daily basis.

“Anti-Feminists are on the rise not only in France, Italy, Germany or the US. Feminism means fighting for equal rights everywhere and doing this all the time!

No country in the world has achieved gender equality. Let’s change that! Show solidarity. Fight!”
