NAPTIP trains investigators, prosecutors on Violence Against Persons

The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking of Persons, NAPTIP, today ,14 February 2024 commenced a 2-day joint training session for 35 investigators and prosecutors on Violence Against Persons.

A statement by the agency said the training is “generously supported by the Ford Foundation.”

With the enactment of the VAPP Act 2015, NAPTIP was entrusted with the vital responsibility of implementing this crucial legislation in the FCT.

The statement said: “This training is a significant step towards fulfilling that mandate of our work on the lives of victims. As she rightly stated, “Whenever we fail at our jobs, it is the victim who suffers.”
The training kicked off with a comprehensive analysis of the VAPP Act delivered by Prof. Fatima Waziri–Azi. Exciting lectures on Workplace Emotional

“In her opening remarks, the DG NAPTIP, Prof. Fatima Waziri–Azi, Ph.D, emphasized the importance of collaboration and the profound impact
of our work on the lives of victims. As she rightly stated, “Whenever we fail at our jobs, it is the victim who suffers.”

“The training kicked off with a comprehensive analysis of the VAPP Act delivered by Prof. Fatima Waziri–Azi. Exciting lectures on Workplace Emotional
Intelligence, Investigative Strategies in SGBV Cases, Evidence Mapping for Investigation Planning, Fieldwork in Handling SGBV Cases, and the Role of Investigation and Prosecution in Effective Enforcement of Protection Orders are lined up for the rest of the training.”
