Thirteen migrants dead, 27 missing in shipwreck off Tunisia
No fewer than thirteen migrants have reportedly died in a shipwreck off Tunisia.
Twenty seven people are still said to be missing.
Seebrüecke International said: “Only 2 people were rescued. The boat had set off from Jebiniana, a small town near #Sfax.”
It added that: At the same time, the rescue capacities are being kept artificially small by the detention of civilian sea rescue ships and the allocation of distant harbours. European policy is thus contributing to these deaths in full awareness and on purpose.
“This must finally come to an end! We demand safe escape routes and an end to the European policy of sealing people off!”
