Filipo Grandi seeks support for Sudan
UN High Commissioner for Refugees, Filipo Grandi has called for support and solidarity for Sudan, ravaged by war.
He said only a ceasefire and meaningful peace talks can put an end to this tragedy.
He said: “I arrived in #Sudan today to highlight the plight of Sudanese civilians (millions of whom are displaced), and of the refugees they still host, all caught in a brutal, worsening war which most of the world seems to ignore. The people of Sudan need our support and solidarity.”
In a another post on his X handle, Filipo Grandi shared information about his encounter with some of the embattled citizens.
His words: “Today in Port Sudan I spoke to people displaced by fighting across the country. They told me how war suddenly disrupted their peaceful lives. And how they’re losing hope — for them and for their children. Only a ceasefire and meaningful peace talks can put an end to this tragedy.”
