Seebrücke International,  an international movement that  wants safe passages and an end of the criminalisation of civil sea rescue says a racist arson attack took place in the small Hessian town of #Wächtersbach on the night of 24 to 25 December.

“The house of the family, who had lived there for years and had migrated from Pakistan a few years ago, burnt down completely in a short period of time,” Seebrücke International said.

The residents of the house, it said “were not at home that night, which is why they fortunately remained unharmed. Initial estimates put the damage at around 350,000 euros.

“According to media reports, the public prosecutor’s office, the Hanau criminal investigation department and the south-east Hessian state security service have initiated investigations.

“According to the town of Wächtersbach, the family has been able to stay with friends and does not need any immediate help. Our thoughts are with those affected. We also condemn the racist debates and discourses in Germany that fuel hatred towards migrants.

“We are referring to both the fascists of the AfD and the bourgeois parties that have used racist and dehumanising proposals over the past year in an attempt to one-up each other with their right wing policies. We must be loud and fight together against these violent developments! All together against racism!”
