Tineke Strik Member European Parliament and Professor Citizenship and Migration Law Radboud University , Refugees In Libya and Alarm Phone have expressed disappointed by the outcome of the new EU Migration Pact.

Shocked by the outcome, Tineke Strik said:  “I am highly disappointed by the outcome of the Asylum Pact negotiations. It will not lead to equal responsibility sharing but undermines the safeguards for asylum seekers.

“Even children can be detained for six to nine months. And no human rights monitoring to prevent pushbacks.”

Also condemning the outcome, Refugees In Libya said  “The EU #MigrationPact will bring yet more suffering  to those looking for protection in Europe, Libya and elsewhere. It calls “solidarity” to funding the Libyan militias who detain, enslave and torture us.

We condemn this inhuman pact and call for an act of true solidarity!”

Speaking in the same vein, Alarm Phone said: “The new EU #MigrationPact will not stop people from moving but it will make migration routes even more dangerous. We will continue to support people who enact their freedom of movement against Europe’s deadly borders.”
