Louise Michel an organization that combines sea rescue with the principles of feminism, anti-racism and anti-facism, has explained why it is calling for freedom of movement for all.

The organisation said the right to move and to freely choose where to live is a privilege. “A privilege that only a few people have. Only a minority have the right passport, are wealthy enough and are able to choose freely where to move.

“The right to choose should not be a luxury, built up on the idea of borders, race and colonial past. Regardless of whether you are moving because you are fleeing a war, you are threatened, you don’t see a future at the place you are now, or anything else.

“If you are leaving your home behind, there is always a justified reason for it. It is not on us to be the judge of that. Migration has and will always be an essential part of human life.

“That is why all we want is Freedom of movement for all!
