Distressed migrants escape danger, arrive in Cyprus
Twenty migrants who were distressed between Tripoli, Lebanon and Cyprus have survived the dangers they found themselves in early today.
They are said to have finally arrived in Cyprus.
AlarmPhone shared information about their plight in the early hours of today. It said: “20 people in distress somewhere between #Tripoli, #Lebanon & #Cyprus. Relatives of this group informed us that they left Tripoli on Friday.
“We have alerted the port and marine police of Cyprus and the #Lebanese navy but could not get in touch with the group.”
After several hours of uncertainty about the safety and whereabouts of the migrants, AlarmPhone announced the they had safely arrived in Cyprus.
“We are relieved to learn from family members of this group that they arrived in #Cyprus. We hope they are safe and can now rest and recover. They must be able to claim asylum! We wish them all the best!”
