SOS Humanity frowns at irregular migration term
SOS Humanity International has frowned against the use of the term irregular or illegal migration as it strongly stated that people only take the high risk of irregular escape routes because there are no legal migration routes for them.
In a statement titled
“Irregular migration? A fallacy!”, SOS Humanity International said: “In the migration debate, there are frequent references to “irregular” and “illegal” migration. What is often overlooked is that people only take the high risk of irregular escape routes because there are no legal migration routes for them!
“Everyone has the human right to leave their country and seek asylum. Talking about irregular migration distracts from the fact that this is not possible by legal means.
“We demand legal escape routes instead of closed doors!”
