Guterres, Amy Pope support 16days of Activism

United Nations Secretary General, António Guterres, International Organization for Migration chief Amy Pope among other leaders of various international organizations have spoken in support of this year’s 16days of activism against gender based violence.

The global organizations’ leaders in one voice condemned violence against women and called for a world devoid of gender based violence.

António Guterres said: “Violence against women is a horrific violation of human rights, a public health crisis, and a major obstacle to sustainable development.

Let’s build a world that refuses to tolerate violence against women anywhere, in any form, once and for all.

Amy Pope: As we mark the start of #16Days of Activism, I reiterate the call to #EndGBV.

We must take action to protect women and girls everywhere especially those in vulnerable situations.

There is #NoExcuse for us not to work towards a safer world for all.

Cindy Mcain of World Food Programme: 1 in 3 women worldwide experience physical or sexual violence during their lives. Those living in crisis settings face disproportionate risks.

We must continue to build a world where every woman & girl has autonomy, opportunities, is safe, respected and heard.
