DCIM repatriates 124 migrants from Qanfoudah Detention Center

The Department for Combating Illegal Migration in Libya has repatriated 124 migrants of Egyptian nationality from Qanfoudah Immigration Detention Center in Benghazi.

Women and children arrested for panhandling were among the people repatriated.

“DCIM repatriated from Qanfoudah Immigration Detention Center in Benghazi 124 #migrants of Egyptian nationality via Emsaed land border crossing,” Migrant Rescue Watch said.

It said the group comprised of migrants “who were apprehended by different services during recent security campaign and included also women with children arrested for panhandling.”

Migrant Rescue Watch in another statement said that Sidi Khalifa Police Department, arrested in Benghazi 4 Bangladeshi nationals responsible for kidnappings of Bangladeshi #migrant workers. “During raid on the reported location police also was able to free 50 #migrants of Bangladeshi nationality held captive by the kidnappers for ransom. The 4 accused during interrogation confessed to all charges and that they were cooperating with a Libyan accomplice who managed to flee the scene. The case was referred to Public Prosecutor’s Office for legal action.”
