SOS Humanity rescues 50 distressed migrants
Fifty distressed migrants including eight unaccompanied minors have been rescued by SOS Humanity International crew.
A statement regarding the rescue exercise said:”In the night and in heavy seas, the crew of #Humanity1 rescued 50 people – including 8 unaccompanied minors – from an unseaworthy and overcrowded fibreglass boat in distress. The survivors had spent more than 3 days at sea.”
The survivors, according to the statement”are exhausted and disoriented. Many are suffering from fuel burns. While they are being cared for by the crew, the #Humanity1 is on her way to the assigned port in Civitavecchia near Rome, over 800km away.”
