21 Bangladeshi migrants rescued, 20 Egyptian women arrested
The Libyan authorities have rescued 21 Bangladeshi migrants after a failed boat crossing.
The authorities also arrested 20 Egyptians all females for engaging in begging in public places.
Migrant Rescue Watch said: “The group of 21 Bangladeshi #migrants was rescued off the coast of Ras Al Hilal by Libyan Special Naval Forces following a failed attempt at boat crossing.”
Subsequently, Migrant Rescue Watch said “all were transferred to CID in Derna and later to DCIM custody in Al-Tamimi where they received humanitarian and medical assistance. 2 #migrants were admitted to Derna Hospital for medical care.”
it went further to say that, Police, due to increase of female beggars on the streets of Benghazi conducted security checks and “apprehended 20 #migrant women and children of Egyptian nationality who were caught panhandling in public places.
“All transferred to Benghazi Security Directorate pending DCIM notification.”
