Activists campaign against Common European Asylum System
Seebrüecke International a German Non Governmental Organization that wants safe passage and an end to criminalisation of civil sea rescue has applauded campaigns staged by activists against the planned tightening of Common European Asylum System (CEAS).
Seebrüecke International said, over the weekend, activists were active in many places and campaigned against the planned tightening of the CEAS.
Under the keyword “CEAS reform”, a package of legislative proposals is currently being discussed in the EU, the implementation of which threatens far-reaching tightening of the so-called Common European Asylum System (CEAS).
Most recently, Seebrüecke International said the EU Council discussed the “crisis regulation”, which has now also been accepted with the consent of the German government. “This regulation aims to legalize the lowering of already disastrous standards in asylum policy in self-defined “crisis cases”.
“With many colorful actions we oppose the progressive disenfranchisement of people on the move and demand: Stop GEAS! This weekend was just the beginning! We will continue to be active in the coming days and weeks!”
Seeking to intensify the campaign, Seebrüecke International said: “You know of an action or event in the next days? Write it in the comments. Also, follow the campaign account @stopgeas on Instagram to stay up to date! Together we fight for a Europe that builds bridges!
#StopGEAS #StopCEAS”
