IOM Sierra Leone carries out family tracing for unaccompanied, separated children
The International Organization for Migration, (IOM) Sierra Leone has carried out family tracing for unaccompanied and separated children.
The organisation said it travelled round the country to get the exercise done .
A statement by the organisation said: “To determine the safe returns and reintegration of stranded Sierra Leonean migrants, IOM staff do family tracing for unaccompanied and separated children (UASC) and conduct risk assessments for victims of trafficking (VOTs).
“IOM staff traveled throughout the country to trace migrant families and conduct risk assessments to ascertain best interest determination(BID) of UASC and prove the risk & vulnerability determinants of VOTs before arrival
This activity is made possible with funds from #MPRR.”
We at voiceforafricanmigrants.org commend the initiative as it is in line with our objective of using practical approach to resolving migration and reintegration issues.
We enjoin other organizations to adopt similar or a more practical approach to address reintegration of migrants.
