Resqship mourns victims of shipwrecks off Lampedusa
Resqship, a Non-Governmental Organisation based in Hamburg, Germany, has decried the unending death of migrants recorded on international waters following the actions of the EU which seek to protect borders at the expense of human lives.
Resqship in a statement condemning the death of innocent migrants in two shipwrecks that occured off the coast of Lampedusa over the weekend said:”Terrible news from the Med: Off the coast of Lampedusa, 2 shipwrecks happened. While the IT coast guard was able to rescue 57 people from the water, 30 people remain missing. So far, only the bodies of a woman and a child have been recovered.
“”How many more people must senselessly lose their lives before the EU takes action? What else has to happen for us to finally abandon our inhumane policy of isolation?
We mourn the victims of the shipwrecks & our thoughts are with the relatives and survivors.
Rest in power!”
