Shipwreck: Video incriminates Frontex no less than Greece- front-LEX
Frontex is said to be no less incriminated than Greece by the video it released on recent shipwreck that claimed hundreds of lives.
front-LEX made the claim in a post where it said: “By releasing this video #Frontex tried to show how early it communicated the footage to Greece, in a cowardly attempt to shift all responsibility to the country’s authorities.
“Instead, this video is incriminating #Frontex no less than Greece.
Frontex’s position is that it only follows the orders of the Greek authorities.”
Continuing, front_LEX said: In an ordinary state of affairs, Frontex should trust that the coastal state it jointly operates with will take over the situation and launch a rescue operation as the law commands.
“But this state of affairs is everything but ordinary and Greece is everything but a trustworthy country that abides by the Rule of Law
“No one knows it better than Frontex. EU’s law enforcement agency @EUAntiFraud found Frontex is heavily involved in Greek crimes against refugees.”
front_LEX noted that EU Law commands that Frontex should terminate its joint operation with Greece if the country is responsible for serious or persistent human rights violations that are related to the agency’s activities (art. 46).
“When the 750-M-EURO-per-year agency sends this crazy video of a floating mass grave to Greece, and its sole surveillance aircraft to base, without sending any other asset back to the scene for the whole day and night, without ensuring Greece is assuming its rescue obligations, and after SUSPICIOUSLY Greece refuses to Frontex’s proposal to send another aircraft to the scene and – as happened in other incidents – requests its aircraft to fly instead elsewhere.
“In these circumstances the one, inescapable conclusion is that Frontex – i.e. the #EU and its 27 Member States that are deploying their assets and agents to this agency – are responsible for this massacre just as Greece.
Cruel, Mass Killing by Drowning. The face of Europe.”
