Twenty one Africans of different nationalities  were found buried after being detained, shot, and killed in cold blood in Libya.

According to Refugees In Libya, the mass graves were  discovered in Ajdabiya, eastern Libya.

“At least 21 people — refugees, migrants, and stateless persons of different African nationalities — were found buried after being detained, shot, and killed in cold blood,” a statement by the group said, adding: “Survivors report the imprisonment of women and men, severe abuse, and executions. A Libyan national with a criminal record has reportedly been arrested in connection with these crimes. If confirmed, the suspect must not remain under domestic custody alone.”

Refugees In Libya called  for the immediate transfer of the suspect to the International Criminal Court to guarantee:

– independent investigation

– protection of witnesses

– and accountability for crimes these crimes that amount to crimes against humanity

“We urge Karim Khan, Prosecutor of the

@IntlCrimCourt, to urgently assess this case within the Court’s mandate.”

The statement alleged that “these killings did not happen in isolation. They occurred within a system where people are blocked, intercepted, returned, and abandoned in Libya after being denied safe pathways to protection. This demands accountability beyond Libya.

“European policies of border externalisation — interceptions by proxy, funding of containment, denial of asylum access — have created the conditions in which such crimes are foreseeable and repeated.

“We therefore call for the investigation of European Union officials and institutions complicit in policies that knowingly expose people to torture, disappearance, and death.

This is not migration “management”.

This is systemic, preventable violence.

⚖️ Justice must follow the bodies.”
