The Planning Committee of the Christmas in Badagry Festival (CIB) has officially

announced the 4th Edition of the Festival, scheduled to hold from December 5th

to 7th, 2025 in Badagry, Lagos State.

The announcement was made at a press briefing in Abuja by Aihawu Victor,

Director/Chairman of the CIB Planning Committee, alongside Hon. Solomon Saanu

Bonu , Olufemi Iroko, and David Assogba—the brains behind the idea from

inception in 2022.

Launched to commemorate the 180th anniversary of the first Christmas in

Nigeria, Christmas in Badagry has grown into a heritage event of national

significance. The 4th edition will mark the 183rd anniversary of Christmas in

Nigeria, celebrated first in Badagry in 1842 when Rev. Henry Townsend and Rev.

Birch Freeman delivered the historic sermon titled “The Incarnation of the Redeemer

of Mankind.”

Festival Highlights for 2025 include:

 Christmas Carol & Parade – re-enactment of the first gospel sermon and

community-wide festivities.

 Coastal Fashion & Art Exhibition – featuring coastal-inspired fashion

designs, art installations, and storytelling through culture and style.

 Coastal Show & Stage Drama – cultural performances and a dramatic

retelling of Badagry’s role in the spread of faith.

 Celebrity Sip & Paint by the Coast – a glamorous evening where creativity

meets entertainment.

 Manger by the Coast & Christmas Tree Lighting – symbolic reflections of

faith, heritage, and festive cheer.

 White Party at the Beach – the grand finale with music, fashion, dance, and

fireworks.

Speaking at the event, Aihawu Victor emphasized the significance of this year’s

edition:

“Christmas in Badagry is more than a festival — it is a bridge between faith, culture,

and creativity. As we mark 183 years of Christmas in Nigeria, we are creating a

platform that unites communities, empowers young creatives, and reinforces

Badagry’s place as the cradle of Christmas in Nigeria.”

Hon. Solomon Saanu Bonu, Olufemi Iroko, and David Assogba echoed this

sentiment, stressing that the vision of CIB has always been to honor Badagry’s

heritage, showcase its tourism potential, and position it as a hub for cultural

and creative enterprise.

The Christmas in Badagry Festival 4.0 is proudly powered by Africa Multicultural

& Heritage Promotion Ltd (AMHP) in collaboration with local and international

partners.
