MSF International has revealed how a Syrian refugee, Ahmad, met his untimely death after a sexual harassment of his wife  by a Lebanese made him to flee Lebanon with his family.

MSF narrates the story thus: “Ahmad, a Syrian refugee, spent the past 5 years in Lebanon with his family: his wife, Afraa, and their 5 children. They worked as farmers in greenhouses owned by a Lebanese individual, but their situation turned dire when the owner sexually harassed Afraa and evicted them.

“Facing discrimination, such as their children being barred from attending school, they made the difficult decision to travel elsewhere. Ahmad borrowed $8,000 for the journey, hoping to reach Europe and then bring his family to join him.”

But tragedy struck in Belarus “when Ahmad, exhausted from the journey through the forests of Eastern Europe, suffered an apparent fatal stroke. His companions abandoned his body for 2 days in the wild before Afraa managed to locate him through the Red Cross and MSF.

“Ahmad was laid to rest according to his family’s customs in Belarus. Now pregnant, Afraa is left to care for her five children, who are in desperate need of assistance.”
