SEAEYE, Migrant Rescue Watch disagree  over sea incident

SEAEYE, an German sea  rescuers , and Migrant Rescue Watch  have expressed conflicting claims on the cause of  a sea incident which occurred on Friday . The number of casualties is yet to be determined.

While SEAEYE  claimed that Libyan coast guard was responsible for the incident, Migrant Rescue Watch thought differently. It accused SEAEYE of causing the |unfortunate incident.

SEAEYE said: “Pregnant woman fights for her life on #SEAEYE4 – Italy is not sending help.

On Friday, our crew rescued 49 people from a dinghy and out of the water. The so-called Libyan coast guard had previously disrupted the operation so much that several people fell into the water.”

Reacting to SEAEYE’s claim, Migrant Rescue Watch said: “Email from Libyan Coast Guard (Duty Officer) to Italian MRCC regarding the deadly incident caused by German NGO #SeaEye4 off the coast of Abu Kammash. German taxpayers money at work

The so-called German “sea rescuers” in their human smuggling frenzy directly caused the incident and are fully responsible it. The captain and the crew should be charged with manslaughter. “

Migrant Rescue Watch went on to share an email sent by Libyan Coast Guard (Duty Officer) to Italian MRCC.

“We would like to inform you by the following:-

On 27 October 2023, at 0400 hours, the NGO vessel SEA EYE 4 was located in the Libyan SAR north of Abu Kammash, where PV Nalut ordered it to leave the area due to lack of coordination with the Libyan search and rescue operation center.

PV Nalut ordered NGO vessel SEA EYE 4 to leave the site of the operation several time and they ignore the instructions, refused the orders, changed direction, speed, and remained circling in the area,

NGO vessel SEA EYE 4 approached very close at an unsafe distance from the migrant boat and PV Nalut, which led to disturb and confusion in the rescue operation, four migrants were jumped into the water and immediately PV Nalut recovered them.

Also, the migrant boat refused not stop, and sea water flowed into their boat, NGO vessel SEA EYE 4 remained very close to the scene of The rescue operation, and for the safety of lives at sea, On scene commander(commander of the PV Nalut), moved away from illegal immigrants boat in order to avoid the loss of lives. We inform you that NGO vessel SEA EYE 4 ignores the Libyan authorities and is indifferent to international law in the areas of SAR responsibilities, PV Nalut belongs to the Libyan Coast Guard and designated for SAR ops in accordance with international standards.
