Refugees In Libya condemns killings of vulnerable children, women
Refugees In Libya, a not for profit organisation has condemned what it described as inhuman treatment and killings of vulnerable children, women and men as it accused the Libyan authorities of unlawful arrest of refugees from Sudan.
Denouncing inhuman treatment and killings of vulnerable people, Refugees In Libya said: “We condemn this inhumane treatment and the killings of children, women and men who have been living in already vulnerable situations because of the state’s negligence to its legal obligations to protest and respect the rights of whoever is within its territory.”
The organization went on to also condemn the arrest of refugees by the Libyan authorities. “Thousands of refugees, mostly women and children arriving from Sudan to Umm-Al-Aranib, Libya have been rounded up by Haftar’s militias under the guise of clearing out the Chadian rebels.
“Some groups of hundreds have been sent to the border area of Sabha while several hundreds are detained in various unofficial detention camps.
Children, women tell us they are terrified and question why they are being rejected by the Libyan authorities. We condemn this inhumane treatment and the torture of children and women who are fleeing the raging war in Sudan.
“While Libya is caught in confrontation with the Chadian armed forces, refugees and asylum seekers are caught in the topic by various armed forces belonging to Haftar who already make millions of dollars out of lucrative migrant’s business.”
